Social activist calls for independent inquiry over Sri Lanka ship fire
Sarath Iddamalgoda, a Sri Lankan priest and social activist, calls for an independent enquiry into how a Singapore-flagged container ship caught fire near Colombo's harbour, triggering the country's worst maritime environmental disaster. The MV X-Press Pearl burned for 13 days and is now sinking with nearly 350 tonnes of oil in its fuel tanks.
