As the healthcare system in India is overburdened by the second wave of coronavirus, a Pune-based doctor along with a group of auto-rickshaw drivers started an initiative ‘Jugaad Ambulance’. Equipped with oxygen cylinders, the ‘ambulances’ ferry Covid-19 patients to hospitals. A total of 100 autos have been converted into ambulances with 3 equipped with oxygen cylinders. Charges are minimal while the service is free for the poor.
