While wastage of Covid-19 vaccine doses in several states has attracted flak from the central health authorities, Kerala has emerged as one of the few states with zero Covid-19 vaccine wastage so far. It has, in fact, reported negative wastage of Covid-19 vaccines by making use of “extra dose”.
Taking to Twitter, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said, “Kerala received 73,38,806 doses of vaccine from the Centre and provided 74,26,164 doses, even using the extra dose available as a wastage factor in each vial.”
He wrote on Twitter: “Our health workers, especially nurses, have been super-efficient and deserve our wholehearted appreciation!”
