Justice Martha Koome has been voted as the chief justice after trouncing nine other candidates interviewed for the same post. A nine-member panel of judicial service commission unanimously selected Koome whose name shall be forwarded to the president for approval as the next judiciary president, replacing retired chief justice David Maraga.
