Marcus Smart was interviewed after the Celtics’ 101-99 win vs the Knicks. He played a huge role in the victory, hitting a couple clutch shots down the stretch that helped seal the win for Boston. He spoke about the physicality and grittiness he plays with and how he’s constantly making hustle plays for the team.
“I embrace the contact,” said Smart. “Teams are doing everything they can to make sure they put a body on some of those screens and some of those hits will be illegal.” Smart talked about his ability to draw fouls and make a play out of a hard hit. He’s always been one to embrace the physical nature of the game and make the best of it.
He also talked about his willingness to make hustle plays for the team. “That’s what I do… I make winning plays for my team and get us extra possessions.” Smart was all over the court in the Celtics’ win vs the Knicks.
Smart also responded to some of the criticism that has come out about him in recent days. He said he could not “care less what anybody says, I’m going to continue to shoot.”
