Brad Stevens was interviewed postgame following the Celtics’ 101-99 win vs the Knicks. Stevens keyed in on the Celtics’ physical play throughout the game, and talked about how important Marcus Smart is to the team.
“That was a physical, grind-it-out, Celtics sort of win,” said the coach. Boston played with a super aggressive mindset all night long and was able to come away with the win. “I thought we played really hard tonight… all things considered, that’s one of our better wins of the year.”
This was night two of a back-to-back for the ball club, and they were without point guard Kemba Walker and swingman Evan Fournier.
Stevens also spoke about the importance of Marcus Smart in this win. “He's tough and he helps you win,” said Stevens. Smart hit some clutch threes down the stretch and played super aggressive defense. “He's not happy we're .500. None of us are. But that's where we are right now. We've got to keep playing through it."
