Owing to the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases that has broken all previous records, the Maharashtra government on Friday said night curfew would be imposed across the state from Sunday (March 28). The curfew does not put restrictions on movement at night but prohibits gathering in public places. The order comes on a day when the state recorded 36,902 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day spike for any state so far.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray following an assessment of the prevailing Covid-19 situation during a meeting with district magistrates.
