The Joint Select Committee on National Committee heard from the Acting Prisons Commissioner that commerce is driving criminal gang activity in Remand with a pack of cigarettes costing as much as $500 in the prison.
The top prisons officer also told the committee that drones are being flown over prison walls to drop off marijuana, as the committee chairman asked if inmates are allowed to have up to 30 gramms of ganja as is the case on the outside.
