Seventeen criminal gangs are operating in the Remand Section of the prison system in this country.
This was revealed by the Prisons Commissioner during a virtual hearing of the Joint Select Committee on National Security on Monday.
And the reasons why prisoners in Remand are joining gangs?
The Prisons Commissioner said one reason may be as simple as the kind of snacks many may take for granted outside prison walls.
