Indonesian authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 600 birds and turtles kept in plastic baskets and iron cages from three trucks arriving at a port in East Java. Among the smuggled wildlife were white cockatoos and blue-streaked lory, both listed as protected species and endemic to Indonesia.
