In the latest in a series of mahapanchayats against the farm laws organised in Rajasthan this week, thousands gathered on February 25 in Kariri, a Meena stronghold, in the state’s Karauli district. It was organised by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha. The massive gathering sat directly under the sun for the whole day, to listen to the farm leader Rakesh Tikait. “The fight about the MSP, it is about farmers. It has nothing to do with your caste.” he told the crowd, which had taken over the slopes of a hill edging the venue. Farmers have camped across Delhi’s border demanding a total repeal of the three laws. After 12 rounds of discussions with the Centre, the deadlock still remains.
