Duck recovers after taking blow dart to face in Idaho lake

The poor waterfowl from Lake Lowell in Idaho is recovering nicely from the foul play that left it swimming around with the projectile lodged in its head.

Lake Lowell Animal Rescue was called about a month ago but was unable to rescue the duck until Boise State University grad student Matthew Gillikin stepped in with a net gun.

He said he built the net gun for a senior capstone project, whose goal was to either do something to help the community or help solve a problem.

And the wounded duck definitely had a problem.
Dr. Karlee Hondo-Rust, a veterinarian at Treasure Valley Veterinary Hospital, said the duck is doing well after receiving pain meds and antibiotics.
