Modified tractors, carrying rations, essential items, woollens & people, wheeled through Haryana in the chilly winter evening on November 26. Thousands of Punjab farmers protesting against the Centre's new farm laws, slowly moved closer to Delhi, undeterred by police barricades, water cannons & tear gas. Farmers, some armed with sticks & swords, fling barricades into a river, threw bricks at cops and physically pushed vehicles as they were stopped by Haryana on their way to a protest march in Delhi. Haryana, ruled by the BJP, used heavy force to block farmers making their way from Punjab towards the capital in tractors and on foot for their two-day "Delhi Chalo" protest. Even roads were dug up to stop farmers from reaching Delhi. Baldev Singh Sirsa, Lok Insaf Bhalai Party president was detained by the Delhi Police along with many others. The day had been replete with clashes, on one occasion the protesters even pitched the yellow iron barricades into the river below while trying to cross a narrow bridge. Drone cameras have also been deployed at Delhi borders for security surveillance. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar hit out at his Punjab counterpart Amarinder Singh, accusing him of playing "cheap politics" during the pandemic. Haryana was hugely criticised for its use of force against farmers. Amarinder Singh hit back, questioning if he was inciting the farmers, why farmers from Haryana were joining the protest.
