Thousands of Donald Trump supporters descended on the U.S. capital on Wednesday to decry the vote in the Electoral College and oppose Congress' certification of the Republican president's Nov. 3 election loss to president-elect Joe Biden.
"[Trump] won legitimately, and if you have to win by losing, you're still a loser," a Trump supporter from Chicago said.
The rallies had local officials and law enforcement bracing for potential violent street clashes. Officials said there were six arrests by Tuesday night for a variety of offences including weapons and ammunition possession, assaulting a police officer, simple assault and possessing a stun gun
