The Eastern Cape government has welcomed the new COVID-19 regulations, announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa. Ramaphosa declared the Nelson Mandela Metro a covid-19 hotspot and cancelled the summer initiations in the region. A number of hospital in the metro have reported a rise in alcohol-related trauma admissions.
