New York Governor Cuomo Warns
of Overwhelmed Hospitals.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo spoke on Monday about
the rising number of new COVID-19 cases in New York. .
According to Cuomo, COVID-19
hospitalizations in New York are nearly
quadruple what they were in June. .
He cited small gatherings acting as
“spreader” events, saying they accounted
for 65 percent of new cases.
Cuomo went on to say the state’s hospital
system is close to being overwhelmed by this
“new phase in the war against COVID.”.
In preparation for the continued surge,
Cuomo said every hospital in the state must start
compiling a list of retired doctors and nurses. .
He also said that larger hospital
systems must begin “[distributing]
patients across [their] system.”.
Just like at the beginning of the pandemic,
plans for regional “field hospitals”
are also being drawn up.
Cuomo went on to hint at an even worse
crisis than in the Spring. As the virus spreads across
the state, resources are becoming less flexible.
So we will have a limited ability to bring
resources from upstate to downstate as we did
in the spring … because literally every region
is dealing with a hospital issue now, Andrew Cuomo, via 'New York Post'
