With Thanksgiving upon us, it's only natural that dog owners
may be tempted to share the festive food with their pups. .
While some foods are perfectly
fine for canine companions,
other foods are strictly off limits. .
Here are the do’s and don’ts
of sharing Thanksgiving
food with your dog. .
Do: Turkey is a great source of lean protein.
Just make sure there’s no gravy, spices
or onion on the piece you’re sharing. .
Don’t: Chocolate is always a no-go for dogs.
It contains theobromine, which can
build up to toxic levels in dogs' systems. .
Don’t: Contrary to popular belief,
not all bones are dog-friendly. .
Bones can crack and splinter, causing damage
to your dog’s mouth and stomach. .
Don’t: Grapes and raisins
have to be kept out of reach. .
They both can cause kidney failure in
your dog, which is potentially fatal. .
Do: most dogs can safely enjoy
a small portion of vegetables. .
This includes broccoli, carrots, asparagus,
cucumber, bell peppers and zucchini. .
Do: Although it is a junk food,
dogs can safely eat mac and cheese. .
Don't overdo it, and if your dog doesn’t
handle dairy well, give them some plain
pasta without the cheese
