India Crosses 2 Lakh Coronavirus Cases With 8,909 Cases In 24 Hours, Death Toll Jumps To 5,815

India has crossed 2 lakh cases of coronavirus, roughly 15 days after it crossed the one lakh mark. For the last three days, the country has been reporting more than 8,000 infections a day. As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare numbers, India reported 8,909 new COVID-19 cases & 217 deaths in the past 24 hours. As on June 3, the numbers stand at 207615 confirmed cases and 5815 deaths. This includes 101497 active cases, and 1,00,303 people have been cured, discharged or migrated. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that India’s coronavirus recovery improved to 48 per cent. At a press conference, it was also mentioned that the COVID-19 mortality rate in India is 2.82 per cent, which is one of the lowest in the world. The country is currently seventh among the 10 worst-hit nations. Maharashtra remains the nation's coronavirus hotspot with more than 70,000 cases. The Indian Council of Medical Research, nodal body in the battle against coronavirus, said the virus is far from reaching the peak in India.
