Kapil Dev, India's first World Cup winning-captain was discharged on October 25 from a Delhi hospital, two days after undergoing angioplasty. The cricket legend had to undergo angioplasty after he suffered a heart attack. The 61-year-old complained of chest pain on October 22, following which he was taken to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute's emergency department. As per the statement, Kapil Dev went to the hospital's emergency department at 1:00 am on October 23 with a "complaint of chest pain". The statement further revealed that he was evaluated and "an emergency coronary Angioplasty was performed by Dr Atul Mathur, Director of Cardiology Department, in the middle of the night”. He is doing fine now. Angioplasty is a procedure to open blocked arteries and restore normal blood flow to the heart. The legendary all-rounder was wished speedy recovery by many on social media, including India's current captain Virat Kohli and batting great Sachin Tendulkar among others. Kapil Dev led India to its first-ever major world title in cricket when they shocked mighty West Indies to become the world champions in 1983. India had to wait 28 long years to win their second 50-over World Cup when MS Dhoni-led Indian team lifted the trophy in 2011. One of India's greatest cricketers, Kapil played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs. He created history by claiming over 400 wickets (434) and accumulating more than 5000 runs in Tests.
