2020-10-22 185

The disbanding of the Houston Rockets continued last week as Daryl Morey stepped away from his long-time role as the team's trailblazing general manager who almost built a counter good enough to beat the prime Golden State Warriors. Bob Ryan and Jeff Goodman assessed his infamous disruptive career that included iconic trades like the James Harden addition and this year's failed attempt to play without big men. What's next for Houston? Goodman discussed Houston's likely next coach: John Lucas.

"So Daryl Morey in case people don't know by now, I guess resigned is the the term due to personal reasons. I'm not sure completely buying that Bob. No, no, he says I don't know either because obviously the owner 42, you know is a guy that doesn't have a lot of patience with Iraq. It's so you wonder if he had had enough although you got to give more credit like eight straight years in the playoffs. No, great job keeping my to head to a point right now. They got like the the one thing with Morrie month that I always felt was he never he never took into account the intangibles and chemistry and he just threw guys together and based on again, maybe the numbers and the numbers said well if we got a chance to get Westbrook to pair with with with hard and you know, let's pair them together and let's bring on to white Howard and I just felt like it was just kind of he was almost plane crash every every day and sometimes this analytics-driven approach is a very interesting parallel in terms of level of success reached between the music off. Pockets in the Oakland A's and Billy Bean. Yeah. I mean couldn't get it done and play nice Little Engine That Could teams, you know, but playing down the way they did. But anyway, but now of course we're in a whole other world with with the the freedmen desk and and and and oh my God, yeah, that's baseball we get that later. But no, I'm not a big fan of Daryl Morey in that sense, but we need to respect. You know, he's no fool God knows you know and and and he'll hit you with the with the numbers that you know, you have to go. All right, but I still think that there's a place for a two-point shot. I still think there's a place for that post game. I still think there ought to be one, you know the Rockets up to an extreme this year."
