In 1937, during the closing phase of the Battle of Shanghai, Chinese troops made a last stand against invading Japanese forces at Sihang Warehouse. Decades later, the site is flooded with tourists each year during “golden week” holidays around the time of National Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The location resembles a shrine, with Chinese flags, wine and even cigarettes placed there in honour of the fallen soldiers.
