신규확진 72명, 사흘연속 두자리…내일 거리두기 재조정 확정
South Korea's daily COVID-19 tally remained below one hundred for the third straight day.
The nation will decide on Sunday whether to extend the tougher social distancing guidelines that have been in place across the country.
Bae Eun-ji tells us more.
South Korea reported 72 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday,... of them, 61 were transmitted locally, and 11 were from overseas.
It's the third day in a row that the numbers have been below 100.
But officials warned against complacency as cluster infections continue to be seen, especially in the capital area.
More than 90-percent of the locally transmitted cases come from the greater Seoul area,... with 23 reported in Seoul and 32 in the surrounding Gyeonggi-do Province and Incheon.
"There have been a lot of reports that PC rooms in the capital area are not strictly abiding by the social distancing guidelines. It has been reported that many of these facilities' smoking rooms are open and that users are not wearing masks."
Concerns are rising as researchers have found that the coronavirus can severely affect the hearts of patients.
According to research led by a professor at Kyemyung University School of Medicine, 6 out of 10 patients saw heart damage such as heart failure.
Health authorities also reported Saturday that a total of 585 COVID-19 patients from 62 hospitals in Korea have taken remdesivir.
Meanwhile, the current level-2 social distancing measure,... which bans indoor meetings of more than 50 people and outdoor events with more than 100 people, runs until this weekend.
The government will announce on Sunday whether they will maintain this stricter measure next week.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 24-thousand-548.
There were two more deaths, raising the death toll to 430.
