Yes Mok-yeon, the fiercest clashes between the two former Soviet republics since 2016 broke out on Sunday and continued throughout Monday,... over the long-disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to reports from the breakaway region, 27 people were killed in fighting on Monday, bringing its total number of casualties to 58.
At least 67 people in total are known to have died overall, including 9 civilian deaths.
The two countries have been locked for decades in a territorial dispute over Nagorno-Karabakh, which is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, but is dominated by an Armenian population.
Most of the international community, including the U.S., Russia and EU, have called for an immediate ceasefire.
