Smuggled gold, phones and drones seized at airport in south India

Airport officials have arrested four people involved in smuggling gold, mobile phones and drones in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place in Chennai International Airport of Chennai on September 23 morning.

Footage of the smuggling bust shows an official cutting through an undergarment to pull out the hidden gold.

They can also be seen inspecting mobile phones and drones confiscated in the operation.

According to the reports, the accused are said to be smuggling gold, phones and drones from Dubai and Kuwait.

The customs official recovered smuggled goods including 570 grams of gold worth $40,629 (INRs 30 lakhs), mobile phones worth $44,695 (INRs 33 Lakhs) and several drones.

The arrested hailed from Andhra Pradesh and Virudhunagar.

According to latest updates, the officials have arrested the passengers and are investigating into the matter.
