Virginians turn out in force on first day of early voting

Voters lined up early at the Fairfax County Government Center and some waited for hours to cast their ballot as early voting began in Virginia on Sep. 18. The line snaked out the building and across lawns. To pass the time, voters brought books and folding chairs. Someone went to buy pizza and then fed people around him. This begins 45 days of in-person early voting in Virginia leading up to the Nov. 3 general election.
