Angry residents chased away police during riots in Bogota, Colombia, on Wednesday night (September 9).

Officers with riot shields and battons stormed the Verbenal neighbourhood following unrest over the death of lawyer and taxi driver Javier Ordonez, 45, earlier in the week.

Javier died following the alleged use of taser by the police in front of the building where he lived on Tuesday. Footage of the incident emerged and lead to civil unrest.

Angry protesters took to the streets amid fiery clashes between demonstrators and riot police. Fires were started in several parts of the city while some protesters were reportedly injured.
