Teachers Are Spending Their Own Money On School Supplies Due To COVID-19

For years, public school teachers have been digging into their own pockets to make up for school supply shortfalls.
Impoverished school supply budgets and ill-equipped students, combined with demanding performance standards, leave teachers with little choice.
And according to HuffPost, it appears the COVID-19 pandemic has made things even worse.
Teachers who are still teaching in brick-and-mortar schools are personally supplying masks and hand sanitizer to keep their classrooms safe.
Teachers who are working remotely are coughing up thousands for new computers, office furniture, and professional subscriptions geared toward digital learning.
And despite the unprecedented strain on their budgets, for many teachers, there isn’t much relief in the way of reimbursements or tax write-offs.
