The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare database showed that India recorded 77,266 cases on Friday, taking its total to 3.39 million, as cases surged across the country. It was also the highest ever recorded tally by a country so far. The previous highest was recorded by the United States on July 16 — 77,255 cases.
