The most incredible basketball shot — and miss — you've ever seen ... from waaaaay downtown!

It was a great idea in theory until Tim Lassiter actually executed it on Wednesday. (August 19, 2020)

Lassiter was coming to the aid of his brother and nephews, who were playing basketball at a local park in Malden, Massachusetts.

The ball they had was flat, so Lassiter and his mom came to the rescue by pulling up to the park with a fresh ball.

Lassiter momentarily decided to join in on the game and shoot his shot from the foot of his car. Seemingly parked in another state, he handed the phone to his mom so she can record what he hoped was a nothing-but-net moment. Unfortunately, the only thing he hit was his nephew, smack dab in the head.

Said Lassiter: "I wanted to record a shot before I drove off. Needless to say I was further from the hoop than I thought. The extra force caused the shot to go off target, hitting my nephew!"

Jacqueline Hardy-Lassiter, who filmed the hijinks, said: "Family fitness turned into one of the most hilarious moments. Yet I tried not to show just how hilarious until I knew my grandson was alright. But my sons lost it, and here we are, simply with an incredible video."

It's safe to say the Boston Celtics won't come calling Lassiter for a tryout anytime soon.
