Mauritius has arrested the captain of a Japanese cargo ship that caused devastating oil spill after it ran aground off its coast late July.
The 58-year-old Indian man was charged with endangering safe navigation.
He's reportedly in custody pending a bail hearing next week.
Mauritius says it will seek compensation from both the owner of the ship and the insurer.
The island nation had declared a "state of environmental emergency" after the incident, and the owner of the carrier, Nagashiki Shipping, has pledged to respond to compensation requests.
