문재인 "코로나19 상황 매우 엄중…범국가적 역량 총동원"
President Moon Jae-in has vowed to take stern action against unlawful behavior that hampers the country's concerted efforts to curb the rapid spread of COVID-19.
Moon was speaking Sunday after being briefed on the outcome of a Blue House meeting.
A day earlier, some 10-thousand people took part in rallies in Seoul,... including a far-right pastor and his followers,... violating a state ban amid efforts to tackle the outbreak.
"President Moon said that it's a serious situation and that we're at a critical juncture when it comes to quarantine. He promised national efforts to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. He also vowed stern action against any illegal act that hampers quarantine efforts."
Moon asked for those who took part in Saturday's rallies to go into self-quarantine or get tested for the safety of their families and the wider community.
The president also called for emergency systems to support quarantine efforts after Seoul and neighboring Gyeonggi-do Province have had their social distancing level raised by one notch to level 2 in the three-tier system.
In a separate Facebook message, Moon asked the public to abide by quarantine regulations,... saying that the government trusts the people and will do its best to overcome the current situation.
