해외유입 외국인 확진자, 격리 위반시 치료비 전액 부담
Starting Monday, foreign COVID-19 patients found to have violated quarantine rules after arriving in South Korea will be required to foot their treatment bill.
In addition, from August 24th, foreign patients coming into the country will be required to cover some or all of their treatment expenses although the costs will vary depending on how much their home countries charge Korean nationals for coronavirus treatment.
Upon announcement today, the KCDC explained the new measures were due to a recent uptick in imported cases.
Until now, South Korea had offered free coronavirus treatment to foreigners.
However, for foreigners who are infected in South Korea, treatment will still be free of charge.
