Nearly a month after banning 59 Chinese apps, the Indian government has barred 47 more Chinese apps, which are largely clones of the previously banned apps. These banned clones include Tiktok Lite, Helo Lite, SHAREit Lite, BIGO LIVE Lite and VFY Lite. The list of the concerned mobile applications will be published soon. An official source told IANS said that the latest apps to be banned were found to be cloning the previously banned apps. Reports suggest that India has drawn up a list of 275 more Chinese apps amid rising tensions between India and China. It is believed that the latest list of apps under the radar includes the popular PUBG Mobile, eCommerce platform AliExpress, popular game Ludo World, among others. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the same. On June 29, the government had banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, WeChat and UC Browser and Xiaomi's Mi Community over national security concerns amid the border tussle in Ladakh. 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives in clashes with the Chinese troops. Other Chinese apps in the banned list were Club Factory, SHAREit, Likee, Mi Video Call (Xiaomi), Weibo, Baidu, BIGO LIVE and more.
