Moving onto COVID-19, concerns are rising here in South Korea... as cases are piling up in other regions THAN the capital,... especially in the southwestern city of Gwangju.
The city reported 15 cases on Thursday,... the HIGHEST among local transmissions.
Our Kim Dami has more.
The city of Gwangju is shaken after a surge of COVID-19 cases.
Out of the 50 new cases reported on Thursday, 28 were local transmissions.
And more than half of those cases were in Gwangju.
The city has now recorded a total of 144 cases since the outbreak first began.
And more than a hundred of those cases have been recorded in the last two weeks.
The sudden surge in cases originated from an outbreak related to door-to-door sales businesses.
That has now unfurled into multiple clusters including ones at a religious temple and a sauna.
One of the new cases in the city is a 12-month-old infant who contracted the virus along with his family.
This is the first incident of a child infection in Gwangju.
Meanwhile, South Korean health authorities have discovered that just point-zero-three percent of South Koreans have had the virus.
In its recent antibody study on over 3-thousand citizens, just one person was confirmed to have antibodies for the virus.
"Experts credit the country's proactive virus testing and tracing as well as citizens' active participation in social distancing."
Out of the 50 new cases on Thursday, 22 cases were imported.
South Korean health authorities said that the number of imported cases is manageable.
South Korea's total number of COVID-19 cases now stands at 13-thousand 293.
With two additional deaths, the death toll is at 287.
