Terrified passengers fled a ferry after it capsized while docking in Bali, Indonesia, on Friday night (June 12).
The Dharma Rucitra III Ferry was approaching the Padangbai Harbor on the popular tourist island when it tilted 45 degrees to the right.
Water rushed into the ship from a suspected leak in the hull as the captain battled to balance the weight. Officials said that 48 passengers and the 17 crew were evacuated and there were no injuries.
Onboard the vessel, which had been travelling from Lombok island, were 21 trucks, three cars, and nine motorbikes.
Ni Luh Putu Eka Suyasmin, Head of the Padangbai Class IV Portship and Authority Office (KSOP) said: ''We evacuated passengers and crew to the dock in safe condition. The evacuation process was completed at 22:18.''
The harbour chief said the Padang Bai KSOP would examine the cause of the accident and make sure the incident did not interfere with shipping activities at the Padangbai Port.
"When the incident was good sea water and sunny weather. To ascertain the cause, we will conduct an investigation," he added.
