정부 "대북전단 살포 철저 단속…위반시 법에 따라 엄정 대응"
South Korea's presidential office has expressed regret over South Korean activists' sending of anti-regime propaganda leaflets over the border into North Korea,... saying it's a violation of the law and does nothing to help the cause of peace.
"We express deep regret over the flying of anti-Pyeongyang leaflets by several private organizations. These acts not only violates laws such as the Inter-Korean Exchange and Cooperation Act, but also go against the agreements reached by the two Koreas. It does no good for our efforts to bring peace and prosperity to the Korean Peninsula."
In a briefing Thursday, the Blue House said that the government is going to crack down on the sending of these leaflets, and those responsible will be punished according to the law.
The Blue House also said that the government will continue to abide by all agreements reached with the North in order to prevent military clashes and maintain peace.
Earlier in the day, the Unification Ministry officially requested a police investigation of two North Korean defector organizations that sent leaflets over the border in May without the government's approval.
