9월 UN총회 '정상들 없이' 개최... 75년 역사상 처음
World leaders won't gather in New York City for the annual UN General Assembly in September in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the first time the hall won't be used for the assembly in the UN's 75 year history.
The president of UN General Assembly said during a press conference this week that it's impossible for world leaders to come as they need to bring large delegations.
He added that the UN hopes to find a way for the leaders to give speeches and commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UN's foundation.
