COVID-19 cases in PH breach 20,000 mark

The coronavirus disease cases in the Philippines climbed above 20,000 on Thursday after the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 634 new infections.

The new cases brought the country’s total number to 20,382 as of 4 p.m. Thursday, the DOH said.

Recoveries also went up to 4,248 after 95 more patients recovered from COVID-19. The number of deaths, meanwhile, is now 984 after 10 new fatalities were reported.

Based on the recent COVID-19 situational report, the DOH said there are 13,969 active cases as of June 2 with the majority of the patients exhibiting mild symptoms.
