A clash has broken out between migrant workers and police personnel in the western Indian state of Gujrat.
The incident took place near a construction site in Ahmedabad on Monday (May 18).
Footage shows the migrant workers pelting stones at police personnel.
Around 100 workers gathered near the construction site at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s new campus in the Vastrapur area demanding wages, meals, and transport to return home.
The clash broke out after police rushed to the spot to disperse the crowd.
According to local reports, two policemen were injured in the clash.
Police later lobbed teargas shells to disperse the rioters and detained at least 50 suspects.
Ever since the lockdown was imposed to combat the COVID-19, Gujarat has seen around a dozen incidents of violence between migrant workers and police personnel.
