전세계 470만명 이상 코로나 감염... 스페인, 6월말까지 비상사태 연장
Nearly 5 million COVID-19 cases have been reported around the world, and more than 310-thousand people have died from the disease.
Cases are surging in the U.S., Brazil, India and Peru.
In Europe, the pandemic seems to have peaked, and restrictions are being relaxed.
Oh Jung-hee reports.
Some 4-point-7 million people around the world have now been confirmed infected with the novel coronavirus,... and more than 312-thousand have died.
On Sunday, the U.S. reported more than 25-thousand new cases and more than 15-hundred deaths, raising its death toll to more than 88-thousand.
Confirmed cases surged in Brazil by almost 15-thousand in Russia by over 9-thousand and in Peru by over 4-thousand.
India saw its biggest single-day surge on Sunday with almost 5-thousand cases.
The country's confirmed cases jumped from 80-thousand to 90-thousand in just two days.
Brazil's confirmed cases have risen past those of Spain and Italy, making Brazil's outbreak the fourth largest in the world.
Italy on Saturday reported 153 deaths, the lowest in the past two months.
Nepal has reported its first COVID-19 death.
But it's believed that Nepal likely has more... because it hasn't conducted enough tests and has not clarified the causes of other deaths in which there were similar symptoms.
In Europe, Spain continues to see thousands of new cases a day, and is moving to extend its coronavirus state of emergency until late June.
Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said... the end of June would be when the hardest-hit countries can start returning to normal, and this would be the last state of emergency a month-long one.
But some other European countries are moving to relax their lockdowns.
On Saturday, Germany and Luxembourg reopened their border, which has been closed for the past two months.
People and vehicles can move across freely without inspection or having to explain reasons for travel.
Germany has also simplified its immigration control with Austria and Switzerland.
