Wildlife officials rescue leopard trapped in Sri Lanka tea garden

Wildlife officials rescued a leopard after it got caught in a trap mounted on a tree inside a tea estate in Sri Lanka's Central Province.

The incident took place on April 24 at the Darawala Tea Estate in Dickoya town of Nuwara Eliya district.

Footage shows officials loading a tranquilliser gun and firing a dart at the leopard. Seeing the officials from a distance, the leopard growled and tried to raise its body, but failed.

Officials then placed a net over the animal, used a cutter to snip the wire, and placed the animal inside a metal cage.

The leopard was rushed to a veterinary hospital for treatment and late released.

According to local reports, the trap that was set up for wild boars.
