江戸時代末期の萬延元年(1860)年9月に、土佐藩は幕府の命を受け現在の大阪市住吉区に住吉陣屋をつくり、大阪湾の海岸警備をしています。慶応2(1866)年には新たに京都の警衛を任されることになり、この住吉陣屋はお役御免で撤去…龍馬も脱藩前住吉陣屋に訪れた際、時間が遅かったため門が閉まっていたので住吉大社の中の「通夜堂」というところで一泊したと言われています。

In 1866, the guard of Kyoto was newly assigned, and this Sumiyoshi Jinya was removed without a duty. When Ryoma also visited Sumiyoshi Jinya before the clan, the gate was closed because it was too late. Therefore, it is said that he stayed overnight at a place called "Tonight Hall" in Sumiyoshi Taisha.
