Democratic Rep. Donna Shalala violated federal law by not reporting her stock sales. According to Business Insider, it’s required to do so under the 2012 Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act. While she took office in 2019, her most recent financial disclosure report only covers stocks assets from 2018. Shalala said she divested from most stocks that could present a conflict of interest in 2019. The representative is part of the committee supervising the federal government’s coronavirus bailout.
