The phone call Saturday between the leaders of South Korea and the U.S. was made at the request of President Donald Trump,... to congratulate President Moon Jae-in on his party's election win last week.

It also released a photo of Trump signing a congratulatory message to Moon reading "a great win."
The top office added the two also discussed pending issues,... such as the COVID-19 outbreak,... ways to cooperate and affairs on the Korean Peninsula.
For starters, the two leaders agreed to work together to tackle the pandemic and step up cooperation on the quarantine front.
The U.S. president expressed his appreciation for Seoul's assistance to Washington in procuring COVID-19 tests,... saying that South Korea is the best model for handling the outbreak.
Trump also asked whether Seoul needs respirators from the U.S. to which Moon replied that his government would request them if necessary.
As for North Korea,... a Blue House official, on the condition of anonymity, told reporters that Trump talked about a "nice note" he received from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
The official, however, said it would not be appropriate to elaborate.
And while the two leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to providing Pyeongyang with humanitarian assistance in fighting COVID-19,... the official said it has not gone beyond that yet because they still need a positive response from North Korea.
The official also made clear that the sticky issue of defense cost-sharing,... which is still being negotiated between the two allies, was not brought up.
