This is the dramatic moment an avalanche strikes a hilly town and blocks the highway in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand.
The incident took place near the Gangotri river in Uttarkashi district and blocked the Gangotri-Dharali National Highway on April 16.
Visuals show a large block of ice slowly descending the steep terrain and covering the road.
Another clip shows a bulldozer removing the ice from the road.
The Border Road Organization (BRO) rushed to the spot immediately and the workers were deployed to ensure the road is cleared for transit.
