For the elderly residents of the Wachtelwinkel seniors home in Brandenburg in eastern Germany, a little clowning around goes a long way.
NONO SAYING (German): “Good morning, it’s nice to see you”

German clowns turn frowns upside down

in an elderly home

Location: Jueterbog, Germany

while observing social distancing

Clowns from 'Laughing Helps'

entertain people under care

They usually perform in patients' rooms

but have moved their shows outdoors

(SOUNDBITE) (German) TIFFY THE CLOWN, TANJA SELMER, SAYING:

“We can’t visit the elderly people inside their care homes. We don’t want to leave them alone though. We thought, ‘what could we do?’ How could we give them a moment of joy? Then we got the idea to just do it outdoors. We’ll go on the balcony, if people can go outside, they can see us and we can bring them closer despite the distance.”
