Amtrak Bookings Plummet
Due to Coronavirus Concerns Year-over-year, Amtrak Senior Vice President Stephen Gardner said that future bookings
are down 50 percent. In a memo to employees, Gardner added that
cancellations have jumped by 300 percent. Amtrak's SVP also said that he expects
reductions to continue for "some time." Last November, the railroad corporation reported a
record number of passengers. It also set financial performance records
for the year ending September 30. To combat the global pandemic, non-critical
Amtrak workers are receiving voluntary leave. Besides cutting costs, Gardner says
Amtrak is planning to slash train services
due to the drop in riders. Stephen Gardner, via memo
