The dog snatcher reportedly confessed to the police that he stole the dog five years ago as he wanted to give it to his daughter as a present
This is the incredible moment a pensioner reunites with her dog five years after it was taken away by a dog snatcher.

Bim was cruelly taken from its owner back in 2015 after she left him outside a shop.

Footage released by the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs shows the horrible incident unfolding

A hooded man is seen standing next to the pooch and waiting until no one is outside the shop. He quickly grabs the leash and yanks the pet away.

The tragic incident gained the attention of an animal rights group who soon started an investigation.
After five years of investigation, the animal activists were able to free Bim. The Russian police kept the canine in the kennel and posted the alert online.

The 68-year-old owner noticed Bim from the pictures and applied to the police to have the animal returned.

In a separate video, Bim is seen recognising its owner and jumping onto her lap as they reunite in Artyom, south-eastern Russian region of Primorsky Krai, which borders with North Korea.
Meanwhile, the 65-year-old suspect that apparently snatched the dog has reportedly confessed to the theft, telling cops that he wanted to give it to his daughter as a present.
According to local media, the suspected dog thief is being investigated for animal abuse and theft.

Dog snatchers often use different tactics to steal the pets and in Plymouth, UK, pet owners were worried over mysterious white chalk circles appeared on the footpath outside their properties.

Both Plymouth City Council and South West Water denied their workers were the ones leaving the circles, saying they don't use white chalk to mark footpaths.
