A pregnant woman was visited by a huge king cobra which superstitious locals believed it came to protect the baby.
Nong Tanwapanich, 24, was terrified after she saw the snake in her backyard in Phattalung, southern Thailand on Tuesday (February 25) afternoon.
She ran to her neighbour Wasan Plaokaew, 34, asking for help. He came to the house and found the 14ft long serpent hissing at him.
He contacted the rescue team to handle the snake, but while waiting he approached the snake caught it by himself and tied it to a rubber tree.
The rescuer team later came to capture the serpent to take it away. The brave neighbour said he was worried that the snake could attack them anytime so he caught it first.
He said: "I was sitting on my front porch when I heard my neighbour screaming and I thought a thief had broken into her house.
"I contacted the rescue foundation for her but I was scared by the snake because it was big and dangerous so I tried to catch it myself.''
Residents also came to witness the huge king cobra and among them there was a village elder who believed that the snake came for a reason.
He said: "When I was young I was told that when a king cobra visited the house with a pregnant woman it meant that it came to help protect the baby."
