Northeast Delhi continues to see intense violence from last few days after protesters for and against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) clashed and started pelting stones at each other, set vehicles and shops on fire. Seven people, including a cop, have been killed and nearly 100 were injured in unprecedented violence. While speaking to media in the national capital on February 25, the Joint Commissioner of Police, Alok Kumar said, “We are continuously taking action and forces have been deployed in Brahampuri, Maujpur, Chand Bagh, and other areas.” “We are dispersing any gathering and peace committees are holding talks with people to maintain peace,” Joint CP added. As per the information of Delhi Police, 35 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in Northeast Delhi along with Special Cell, Crime Branch and Economic Offences Wing (EOW) officials. Local police from different districts of Delhi have also been called in.
